Lawyers acting for the estate of Felon Smith, 37, say workers for the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) ‘failed to provide any assistance whatsoever’ to the stricken woman moments before she died on June 27.The lawsuit claims staff did not lift a finger to help ‘despite their close proximity to Felon Smith and knowledge she was in need of assistance.
’Attorney Jeffrey Neslund, who is representing Smith’s family, told CBS Chicago: ‘The disturbing surveillance video from the platform establishes the deliberate indifference and callous disregard for the safety of Felon Smith. Smith’s husband Shearal Cole said: ‘Our children are devastated and our hearts are broken.’CTA bosses have yet to respond to the lawsuit.Smith’s Facebook page was filled with haunting positive updates in the days leading up to her death.On the morning she died, Smith posted: ‘2 blessing in one day God Is good even in your time of need.
’And a week prior to her death, she wrote: ‘Good stuff has been happening all week to me I was in the nail salon and a lady paid for my feet to match my nails she was like there so pretty I want you to have it so sweet.‘then the money for my uber came back on my card from downtown.‘and then today I’m at breakfast with Chloe and someone paid our whole bill that was so sweetAdvertisementAdvertisement‘look at God I’m feeling like the angels are with me and I try to pay it forward.
